MT. BAKER SHRED SHACK
Welcome to the Mt. Baker Shred Shack, where form follows function. The design consists of a 800 square foot A-Frame with deep overhangs and intersecting galvanized boxes perched atop a concrete base near the slopes of Mt. Baker Ski Area.
-
The design was informed by site, precedent, and program studies for what would be needed to create a minimal, robust and compact ski cabin. A concrete base acts as gear storage and as a protective platform elevating the structure above the snowpack overlooking the Cascade Mountain Range. Two offset galvanized boxes hold the kitchen and bathroom spaces. The interior and exterior finishes were restrained and selected to simplify detailing, reduce trades, and overall cost. Utilized in the winter or summer the Shred Shack makes for the perfect basecamp for outdoor play or relaxation.
